Ernest K. Robbins, 89, a life long Clarksburg-Kingston area resident, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2017 in Greensburg at the Aspen Place Health Campus where he had resided for the last 3 years. Ernest was born June 11, 1928 in Connersville to John Dilver & Cora (Hill) Robbins. He was a 1946 graduate of New Salem High School. He married Lorene Maple on July 25, 1948 and she preceded him in death on November 23, 2009. He was often seen with his beloved companion, Sheba.
Ernest farmed in Decatur County his entire life and was a draftsman and tool designer many years for McQuaid-Norris & Roots Blower. Ernest was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Greensburg but also worshiped at Clarksburg Covenant Church and Springhill Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling in the Southwest and was passionate about 3D photography.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia & husband Tim Hausman of Greensburg, a brother, John Edward (Carol) Robbins of Ft. Wayne, sisters, Louise (George) Gordon of Ft. Wayne, Rose (Leon) Voris of Fairland and Thelma Robbins of Rushville, grandchildren, Rodney Hausman of New Point and Dr. Katelyn (Jeremy) Holliday of Durham, NC and great grandchildren, Breydon & Elizabeth Hausman and "granchildren of the heart", Adam Taylor & Natalie Taylor Geier. In addition to his parents and wife, Ernest was preceded in death by a brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Polly Robbins and a sister & brother-in-law, June & Bill Jenks.
Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor Dan Smith presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4-8 PM Monday, August 28. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Decatur County.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to Gideon's International.
