Ross H. Smathers age 72, was born in Davis, Oklahoma on May 11, 1938. Died peacefully at home after a 15 month battle with cancer with his family lovingly surrounding him on Friday October 8th, 2010. Beloved husband of Bertha J. Smathers. Loving father of Jeanne (Albert) de la Rosa, Ron (Helen) Smathers and Russ (Kim) Smathers. Adored grandfather of Kristen, John and James de la Rosa, Travis, David, Katelyn, Kyle and Kristina Smathers, forever in our hearts. Son of the late Travis and Velma Smathers. Brother of Ron (Maria) Smathers. Preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Survived by many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 1pm at Duggan Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City. Memorial donations may be made in Ross' name to the Peninsula Humane Society or Mission Hospice, San Mateo.
