Funeral Services were held at the Bahner-Fox Chapel July 6 for James Travis Smathers, 77, who died July 4 in Oklahoma City. Rev. Charles Hall officiated. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with arrangements by Bahner-Fox Funeral Home.
Born June 8, 1905 at Red River County, Texas. He married Velma Sims November 5, 1922 in Sunshine, a community east of Davis.
James was preceded in death by one son John Edwin Smathers in 1925.
Survivors include his wife, Velma, of the home; one daughter, Lola Lyle of Pasco, Wash.; five sons, Ray of Pasco, Wash., Ronald of Los Angeles, Calif., Regnald of Anaconda, Mont., Roland of Washtucna, Wash. and Robb of Pacifia, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
