Drew Evans was born October 10, 1931 in Bruin, Kentucky , a son of the late Clifford and Minnie Lewis Evans.

Drew served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the 1950's. He was a member of the Hepburn Masonic Lodge 576 F & A.M. and VFW 11428 in Sandy Hook. For many years Drew was on the Military Squad and participated in numerous Military funerals. After leaving Military services, Drew worked as a farmer and was a carpenter for Local Union 472.

Drew had a passion for music. He not only loved bluegrass and county music, but also enjoyed participating in jam sessions. He often played his fiddle and sang with many local musician friends. He was also known to cut a rug with his clogging occasionally. Over the years he attended many music festivals including the annual Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival on a regular basis.

Drew always had a story to tell whenever he was around family and friends. The stories may have been about his military time, reminiscing about his childhood growing up on Bruin Creek in a family of ten siblings, or favorite details from the many books he read. Many folks thought his embellishments added fun and humor to his stories. His sense of humor always showed through.

Drew was a kind , soft spoken and thoughtful of others. He cherished his son Zane and grandson Zach always putting them first in his life.

Among those who preceded Drew in death were three brothers: Glenn Henry Evans, Ernest Talmage Evans, Bert Elwood Evans, and James Lowell Evans: four sisters: Gladys Evelyn Evans Walker, Beulah Evans Maggard, Geneva Fern Evans Porter, and Ethel Maxine Evans Porter.

He is survived by two brothers: Emil Franklin Evans of Orlando, Florida, and Bill Lee Evans of Louisville, Kentucky, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved their uncle, along with a host of family and friends that will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Waddell & Whitt funeral home with Brother Tim Porter and Andrew Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene Cemetery on Horton Flat road.
