Jimmie D. Wellborn, 72, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco.

Jimmie was born on September 30, 1939, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Chester and Norma (Smith) Wellborn. He graduated from High School in Kirksville, Missouri.

Jimmie was united in marriage to Georgeanna Bass on February 14, 1958. He served in the National Guard for thirteen years. Jimmie worked for Donaldson Company in Kirksville until 1984 and then in Cresco from 1985 until he retired after thirty years of service.

He enjoyed building primitive furniture. Jimmie liked football, where he enjoyed rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and baseball, where he was an avid Cardinal fan.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Georgeanna of Cresco, daughter Roxanne Wellborn of Cresco, daughter Shari Mayo of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren Emily, Amanda and Rebecca Moore, all of St. Louis, Missouri and sister Betty Gore of Kansas City, Missouri.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Norma and brothers Leslie, Wes and Earl.

Visitation: Friends may call Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.
