The son of Newton Jasper and Minnie June (Huffman) Wellborn, he was born Jan. 3, 1906, in Adair County. On Jan 24, 1931, in Adair County, he married Norma Smith and to this marriage five children were born. She preceded him in death in August 1944 and on Dec. 12, 1953, in Adair County, he married Carmelita Wolf who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Shearer of Lees Summit; four sons, Leslie Wellborn of Macon, Wesley Wellborn, address unknown, Earl Wellborn of Sacramento, Calif., and Jimmie Dee Wellborn of 802 S. First; one stepson, Robert O. Wolf of Kansas City; two brothers, Herman Wellborn of 1504 S. Halliburton and William C. Wellborn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Lula) Beall of St. Louis and Marie Yantis of 824 E. Scott and 24 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Mr. Wellborn was a life-long resident of Adair County. He had worked as a carpenter most of his life and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local No. 2057.
The body is at the Jackson Dee Riley Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
