Mr. Wellborn married Nancy J. Riggs on June 2, 1956 in Kirksville, MO and to this union was born 4 children. Earl served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until he retired from the military as the rank of Tech. Sergeant in 1972. While in the Air Force he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Upon his retirement he and Nancy moved from California to Salisbury where they have resided the past 20 years.
Earl also was a car salesman for Reuther Motors in Glasgow for several years after his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leslie and Weslie Wellborn and three grandchildren, survivors include his wife Nancy J. Wellborn of the home, 2 sons and their wives, Sonny and Kathy Wellborn of Glasgow, Jaydin and Kim Wellborn of Moberly, 2 daughters and their husbands, Vicky and Gerald Saulter and Candice and Eric Myers of Dallas, TX 12 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 1 brother, Jimmy Wellborn of Cresco, IA and 1 sister Betty Gore of KC, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salisbury where military graveside services will be rendered by the Salisbury American Legion at VFW.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph School Foundation.
