Margie Hook, 84, of Hiawatha, formerly of Des Moines, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House following a short illness.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept 13, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral on Thursday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street Des Moines. Burial service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.

Margie was born in Camdenton, MO to Lyman and Dora Webb on March 27, 1933. She spent her youth in Linn Creek, MO.

She moved to Des Moines, IA in 1950 where she met her husband, Roy “Buddy” Hook. They were married on December 20, 1950. Margie was a military wife and moved to several different naval bases around the world. After Margie’s late husband retired from the Navy in 1967, they settled in Des Moines. Following her husband’s passing in 2004, she moved to Hiawatha, IA to be closer to family.

Margie enjoyed dining at her favorite seafood restaurant, fishing, gambling, gardening, Bingo and spoiling her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought a special smile to her face. Throughout her lifetime, she always had a canine companion.

Margie is survived by her son, Mike (Deb) Hook of Hiawatha, granddaughter Carrie (Chad) Heims of Marion, grandson John (Bailey) Hook of Marion, great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dillon, Emylia, and Keegan Heims and Bo Hook, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Buddy” Hook, her parents, four siblings, and five dogs.
