Born February 28, 1935 in Buck Valley, PA, he was the son of the late William Raymond and Mina Minerva Hull Ritz.
He was a Christian. Jack attended public schools in Fulton County, PA. He retired in 1991 from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD where he had worked as a foreman. Jack then worked as a travel trailer delivery person for Fleetwood Industries in Hancock, MD. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs and Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post #26 in Hancock. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his “fishing trips” to the Outer Banks, NC.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Mae Kerns Ritz, at home, his children, Luanne Diehl and Lori Ritz, both of Warfordsburg, PA and Christopher Kerns and his wife Kristi of Murrysville, PA, one brother, Dale Ritz of Warfordsburg, PA, five grandchildren, Amy, Becky, Austin, Chloe and Axel, two great grandchildren and several nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ritz.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Pastor Ted Marsh officiating. Interment will be in the Buck Valley Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from noon – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home which will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday for the convenience of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buck Valley Christian Church Cemetery Fund, % Randy Ward, 7671 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Folks wishing to bring covered dishes may deliver them to the Berkeley Springs Moose Lodge starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
