APPLE CREEK -- Dean H. Kiser, 95, of Apple Creek passed away, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Wayne County Care Center, Wooster.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will take place in Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville,where military rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Wayne County Care Center, 876 S. Geyer Chapel Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
Dean was born April 2, 1922, in Prairie Township and was the son of William and Lola (Wilson) Kiser Sr. He married Bernice Young on April 16, 1959, at St. John’s Church of Millersburg and was married by the Rev. Charles A. Zechiel.
Dean was a veteran of World War II, serving 18 months in the Pacific Theatre, Company B, 780th Amphibian Tank Battalion, U.S. Army. He learned how to weld in the service and was a welder all his life. Dean worked on the Alaskan Pipeline and was a member of the Pipeliners union 798. He was a member of Holmesville United Methodist Church, was a Mason and was a member of the Melvin McClure American Legion Post 551. Dean loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends at their place in Florida. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends, watching the Cleveland Indians and loved morning breakfast trips with his wife.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Bernice, is a brother, Paul Kiser of Troy, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Faye Fixler, Henry Kiser, Katherine Bartrum, Wayne Kiser, William Kiser, Jr. and Evelyn Whitmyer.
