NEWPORT NEWS - Alice S. Linkous , 80, died on Thursday, December 15, 1994 in Bayside Convalescent Center of Poquoson. She was a native of Lexington, N.C., and a Peninsula resident for most of her life.

In 1981 Mrs. Linkous retired from the Newport News School System where she was a cafeteria worker. She was a founding member and a trustee of Denbigh Presbyterian Church.

Survived by three daughters, Harriet L. Rowe and Judy A. Gorman, both of Newport News, and Elizabeth Coulson of Virginia Beach; five sisters, Elizabeth Hennessey of Florida, Patsy Mingee and Nancy Smith, both of Newport News, Josie Mann and Estelle Ware, both of Williamsburg; two brothers, Raymond Shockley of Richmond and Allen Shockley of Newport News; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Denbigh Presbyterian Church by Rev. Jerry F. Helms and Dr. John Sadler. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
