Hoyt Cornelius (Johnny) Thompson, 68, of 203 Andrews St, died Friday night in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Augusta, Ga, following an extended illness.
Born in Comer, Ga, a son of the late John Henry and Sallie Smith Thompson, he was a member of Westside Baptist Church, the Dewey Hopkins Sunday School Class and was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by four sisters, Mrs Nettie Hulett and Mrs Kate Crowe, both of Greenwood, Mrs Ruby Hand of Greenville, and Mrs Lois Faulkner of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Claude C Thompson and M L Thompson Sr, both of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Sunday at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev Bruce Russell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
