Morris L Thompson Sr, 83, husband of Marie Cooper Thompson, of 202 Kitson St, died Nov 13, 1989 at Self Memorial Hospital.

Born in Madison County, Ga, he was a son of the late John Henry and Sallie Smith Thompson. He was retired from Textile and Small Engine Repair and was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church where he was a former teacher of the Men's Bible Class.

Surviving, in adisiton to his wife of the home, are a daughter, Mrs Paul (Joyce) Walker of Greenwood; a son, Buddy Thompson Jr of Greenwood; four sisters, Mrs Kate Crow and Mrs Nettie Hulett, both of Greenwood, Mrs Ruby Hand of Greenville and Mrs Lois Faulkner of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Claude C Thompson of Greenwood; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home with the Rev Joe Nicholson, the Rev James M Copeland and the Rev Hilton Johnson officiating Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dan Wideman, Jonathan Grier, Perry Ouzts Charles Smith, Tommy Hand and John McKinney.

The body is at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Lowell Street United Methodist Church or to Tranquil United Methodist Church.
