Visitation/ServicesObituary

Richard "Dick" Taylor, 84, passed away on the 16th of March, 2014 at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier, California. He was born on January 7, 1930 in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of 9 children to Victor and Mary (Bouchet) Taylor.

Dick grew up in Los Angeles, California and started working at Sears and Roebuck at the age of 15 years old. After graduating high school he joined the Navy in 1952. After his service in the Navy, Dick returned to Sears where he eventually worked his way up to the position of Merchandise Manager of the catalog/mail order division of the Los Angeles branch from which he retired after over 40 years of service. Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Board of the South Western Federal Credit Union.

Dick married Alice Schofield, of Heywood, England in 1967 and the couple resided in Pico Rivera, California until his death. They were happily married for 46 years.

Dick was an avid golfer, racehorse fan, and family man. For years, he organized "Taylor Day at the Races", a family reunion at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Dick loved being a father, grandfather, and most-recently, a great-grandfather, always joking and laughing with his 3 grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his daughter, Rhonda "Dee" (Anaya) Taylor of Rowland Heights, California; his grandchildren Lauren, Lindsay, and Taylor; his great-granddaughter, Haley; and his surviving siblings Donald Taylor and Mary Harding.

A memorial service will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park for close family. Condolences may be left on Richard Taylor's online guest book at RoseHills.com or Legacy.com.
