DONALD KEITH TAYLOR

Donald Keith Taylor was born Sunday, November 13, 1927 -in Los Angeles. He was born to Mary and Victor Taylor - the eighth of nine children - at the time of his birth his Dad was 70 years old - and he died 6 years later, after fathering another son at 73.

There were 7 boys and 2 girls in his family - and they struggled after the father's death, to keep food on the table. Don took his first job at 8 years old - and worked continually - until he was 70 years old.

Don graduated from Garfield High School in Los Angeles in 1945 - never went in the military - too young for the war - and married Edith Miller shortly after graduation. They had three children: Donald Keith, Jr; Linda Lee; and Robert Louis and settled into a small home in Norwalk, which Don was constantly remodeling and adding on to. Don and Edith divorced in early 1974, and he met Carole in June of 1974 - and they became a couple immediately. They were married September 27, 1981.

Don was strict, and didn't believe in being lazy. He was a fix-anything kind of guy - one who believed in buying the right parts and fixing it correctly only once - no bubble gum, and string for Don. He was loving, but not always lovable - as his kids will attest, but in old age became very thoughtful and caring and funny. He loved a GOOD joke - but was a bad joke or story teller - not good with the details or punch line. But he loved to laugh, and had a great, loud laugh, so often embarrassing Carole when at the movies.

He loved his grandkids - and was fortunate to be able to spend quality time with most of them on vacations. And they loved him back - he was their Grandpa Bully. He had a special love for each of Carole's Lakewood High School girlfriends, and enjoyed being entertained by them - and they enjoyed him entertaining them.

In retirement he so enjoyed his morning breakfast time with his friends, but had to give it up when moving to Wildomar. He definitely missed all of their gossip and friendship.

And one of his passions in the last few years was talking to his oldest son, Don, each evening around 9:00P - and he often signed off with "God willing, I'll talk to you tomorrow" - but on December 30th - God decided he needed him. So Don followed God, BUT he left his mark by having it snow in Wildomar that night - something that never happened before! (Or, maybe HELL FROZE OVER!!)

Don had a good life - able to take some wonderful vacations with Carole and often Grandkids - and especially loved his time in Hawaii and Key West.

He will be missed.
