LATHAM SOLDIER KILLED IN CRASH IN LOUISIANA
Sgt. Robert L. Patterson, 29, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Patterson of Latham, was killed in an auto accident on a gravel road near Camp Polk, La. Wednesday morning, according to a message received by his parents.
Sgt. Patterson was en route to camp. He was to have been transferred to an Army Airbase in Texas for a course in helicopter engineering.
He will be brought to the Schahl Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Arrangements are incomplete.
He was born Aug. 12, 1927, at Argenta.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jane Young; a daughter, Sandra; his parents and a sister, Mrs. Lois Lobb, Decatur.
Sgt. Patterson enlisted in the Army in 1948 and served two tours of duty in Korea.
