Obituary for Thelma Redell Smith Starnes
Thelma Smith Starnes passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. Living most of her life in Hill Station, VA, she was a homemaker who loved and cherished her family.

Thelma was predeceased by her mother and father, Charles and Florence Jones Smith; the love of her life Oren Guy Starnes; grandson, Matthew Michael Starnes; sisters, Betty Smith, Freddie Hubble, Zella Starnes, and Dorothy Bledsoe; and brothers, Odell Smith, and Jimmy Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael and wife Linda of Mt. Carmel, TN, Allen and wife Jennifer of Gate City, VA; brothers, Bill Smith, Paul Smith, Dwight Smith, Bobby Smith, and Ronnie Smith; along with several nieces and nephews.

Thelma and Guy were members of Rivermont Baptist Church of Gate City, VA. In their later years they attended Oak Glen Baptist Church.

The visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Reverend Danny Sykes officiating. The Oak Glen Singers will provide the music.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA with Dr. Lester Morelock officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
