"Mrs. Dora F. Sutherland Girdler, 81, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.G. Prather in Somerset.
The daughter of the late Daniel F. and Malinda Lee Richardson Sutherland, she was born in Russell County Nov. 23, 1874. She married James Henry Girdler Jan. 18, 1900 and five children were born to this marriage. One son preceded her in death. Mr. Girdler died 23 years ago.
Mrs. Girdler professed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2. She remained a faithful member of that church until her death.
Mrs. Girdler is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jess Garner, Lexington, Mrs. R.G. Prather, Somerset, Mrs. Elmer Garner, Bruceville, Ind., and Mrs. Delbert Mayfield, Union, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Jack Davis of Texas; one brother, John Sutherland of Texas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2, the Rev. W.W. McAlpin officiating. Burial was in the Tanner cemetery."
