Mrs. Lela Sheppard Cain, 72, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.C. Cook at Norwood at 11:45 o'clock Thursday night. Mrs. Cain had been ill for the past four weeks following a cerebral hemorrhage.

The daughter of William and Alice Dunagan Sheppard, Mrs. Cain was born in Steubenville, September 29, 1878. She united in marriage with Thomas Richard Cain on December 14, 1899. Mr. Cain preceded her in death 11 years. Although Mrs. Cain was a native of Wayne County, she had spent the last 34 years in Pulaski county.

Professing her faith in Christ when she was 14 years of age, Mrs. Cain became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a faithful and devoted member. Much of her time was spent in the work of her Maker and she was never too busy to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. A devoted wife and mother, her selfishness and Christian character will long be remembered by her countless friends.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. C.C. Cook and Mrs. George Girdler, both of Norwood and Mrs. Seldon Turner of Paducah; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Carter of New Castle, Ind., and Mrs. Delta Alexander of Richmond, Ind.; four brothers, Charlie and Ollie of Steubenville, Elmer of Welborn and Tom Sheppard of New Castle, Ind.Lela E. Shepperd Cain, 72 years of age, of Pulaski County, Kentucky, departed this life sometime in 1951.

Lela was born in September of 1878 in Wayne, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Edgar Shepperd and Alice V. Dunagan Shepperd.

Lela was survived by a daughter, Linnie Cain (and George) Girdler of Pulaski County, Kentucky; a grandaughter, Georgia L. Jones of Millbrook, Alabama and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edgar Shepperd and Alice Shepperd, who departed this life on July 27th, 1899; and her husband, Thomas R. Cain.

Burial was in the Tanner Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF LELA CAIN,

If you could see me now you wouldn't shed a tear, Though you may not understand why I'm no longer there. Remember my spirit, that is the real me because I'm still very much alive, I've just been set free. Oh, if you could only see!

I have held our Father's face and I've touched my Savior's hand. All of Heaven's angels rejoiced as I entered the promised land. Beyond the gates of pearl I've walked on the golden streets.

I've touched the walls of jasper and dipped my foot in the crystal sea. The beauty is beyond words and nothing could compare, I've even seen our Lords mansion and someday I'll meet you there. Let Jesus be your guide because "His Word" will show you the way. So please don't cry because we will meet again someday.
