Ruth H. Alford, age 85, of Blountstown passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at home. Born in Blountstown, April 11, 1933, Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Trudie (Stewart) Herndon. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Blountstown First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alford; daughter, Peggy Alford Smith; four sisters, Estelle Basford, Maebell Bradley, Catherine Lasseter and Gwen Watford; two brothers, William and John Herndon.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie Flowers of Blountstown; her son, Sam Alford and his wife, Sharon of Blountstown; and step son Joseph Gale Alford of Blountstown; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tonya, Karen, Kay, and Ralston Flowers; Matthew and Brandon Alford; Seth Smith, Katie Hobbs Sibayan, and Christian Smith; Matthew McKenney and Sarah Vaughn; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Virgil Herndon and a sister, Iona Tharpe, both of Clarksville, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Thursday, April 26, 10:30 a.m., graveside at Pine Memorial Cemetery.
