Virgil Herndon, 93 of Clarksville, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at his home. Virgil was born in Clarksville, October 25, 1929, to the late John and Trudie Herndon. He was a Forrester for International Paper Company until his retirement and was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, farming and fishing.

Virgil is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, William Herndon, John B. Herndon, Mae Belle Bradley, Catherine Lassiter, Estelle Basford, Iona Tharp, Ruth Alford, and Gwen Watford.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years Hazel Herndon; his son Mark Herndon (Beth); his daughters Sharon Walters and Rita Whitt (Robert); his grandchildren, Chase Walters (Kim Johnson), Holly Walters, Chris Herndon, Max Herndon, Stewart Herndon, Renea Green, and Justin Faircloth; his great-grandchildren, Carter Green, Sawyer Green, Bowen Faircloth, and Chason Faircloth.

Services to honor Virgil's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Herndon Cemetery with Pastor Glenn Davis officiating. Interment will follow.
