Mrs. Swanson died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clinton. She was employed several years as a cook at a boarding house in Muscatine, Iowa, and as a dress maker at her home for many years in Missouri and Iowa.
Ruth Jackson was born Sept. 18, 1901, in Dent County, Mo. She married Arthur Coleman in 1921 in Ellington, Mo. He died in 1931. She married Vernal Swanson in 1937 in Quincy, Ill. He died in 1987. A memorial fund has been established.
Survivors include daughters, Mildred Alm, Clinton, and Artha Underwood, Denver; son-in-law, Kent Ketelsen, Clinton; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Otis Jackson, Bonne Terre, Mo.
