Evelyn Turek-Paddock, 93, of Ord, NE died Fri., July 27, 2018, at Valley View Senior Village in Ord.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Aug. 2 at the Ord Christian Church with Pastor Doug Durre officiating. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren. Cremation was held and burial of ashes will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn was born July 31, 1924, in Ord, NE to Bert and Ida (Dawe) Hurlbert. She received her education in Ord and graduated with the class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Albert Turek and to this union six children were born. In November 1988 she married Clyde Paddock.

Evelyn was a faithful member of the Ord Christian Church her entire life. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible and Christian books, watching Jeopardy and the Price is Right. She was a great cook and also made the best homemade bread three times a week. She was so proud of her grandchildren and helped them whenever she could. She worked for Lee’s variety store in Ord for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Loretta and Jim Darnell, Harold “Butch” Turek and Bonnie and Lynn Griffith, all of Ord, Linda and Howard Miller of Hastings, Steve and RaNae Turek of Osceola and Susie and Harley Hanson of Scotia; grandchildren, Sherry and Mike Smith of Shelton, James “Jamie” Darnell of Gardner, KS, Bob Darnell of Kearney, Brent Turek of Aurora, Allison and Gary Williams of Kearney, Leah and Troy Eppenbach of Omaha, DeeDee and Bob McDonald of Rockville, Brian and Lacy Griffith of Ord, Julie and Hank Streff of New Mexico, Judy and Jamie Johnson of Holdrege, Joni and JT Switzer of Iowa, Monty and Chelsea Miller of Kearney, Stephanie and Justin Sunday of Osceola, Erica and Carson Schott of Seward, Matt and Leslie Turek of Malcolm, Paul and Sadie Hagemeier of Eagle and Kori and Scott Beaty of Scotia; 36 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, brothers, Ray, Dudley, Loyal, Leonard and Larry Hurlbert, a sister, Delores Kawata, infant brother, Dean Wayne and infant sister, Della Rose.
