Born October 10, 1920, and reared in the Canaan Community, Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Abernathy (1890–1946) and Lonnie Mae McKittrick Abernathy (1891–1988); widow of Eulan William Ford, Sr. (1911–1947).
She trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and learned to lean upon Him from that time forth. She was dearly loved by her entire family and was a wonderful cook. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Worked for Brownies Cleaners; retired from Belk Hudson and Efird's as a seamstress.
Survivors include her son, Eulan W. "Buddy" Ford (Luz); daughters, Georgia Johnson (Henry) and Linda Ford; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Ruth Abernathy Satterfield (1926-2022).
Also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Woodrow Abernathy (1914–1995); sisters, Jessie Lee Abernathy Jolley (1918–2013), Evelyn Grace Abernathy Hutchinson (1923-2008), Sarah Elizabeth Abernathy Cariens (1928–2008), and Bernice Faye Abernathy Owens (1931–2014).
Visitation was held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Chapel officiated by Dr. Henry Johnson; interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials were made to Linda Ford, Inman, SC.
