Hootie was born January 13, 1939, in Ohio County, KY, to Thomas Elvis and Eva Murial (Baize) Nelson. She was the pastor’s wife at Pentecostal Mission of Prayer. Hootie enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved cooking, music, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Basil R. Embry; daughter, Sharon “Sherry” Morphew of Boonville, IN; sons, Mike Embry (Kathy) of Wadesville, IN, Mark Embry (Christie) of Boonville, IN, and Robert Embry (Shelly) of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Mildred Estep of Cleveland, TN and Virginia Stewart of Florahome, FL; brothers, WT Nelson of Hood River, OR, Bob Nelson (Evelyn) of Booneville, IN, and David Nelson (Phyllis) of Warner Robbins, GA; grandchildren, Kristopher Embry, Jarrod Embry, Nelson Morphew, JD Morphew, Lydia Embry, Kimberly Woerz (Aaron), Jessica Embry, Charity Bea Embry, Emily Embry-Pagel (Caleb), Joshua Embry, and Benjamin Embry; great-grandchildren, Selah Morphew, Adelynn Morphew, Asher Morphew, Ava Woerz, Addlee Woerz, and Brennan Embry.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruthie Renfrow; and brothers, Loren Kenneth “Bud” Nelson and Archie Nelson.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Gary Meredith and Reverend Sonny Whitely officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
