Remains removed and reburied from family graveyard by her surviving children in 1847.

Abigail Roberts became the second wife of widower Francis Welch/Welsh (1760-1841) in 1784. Francis lost his first wife in childbirth with his first daughter Sarah (Welch) Mellott (1782-1863) who survived. Abigail raised Sarah as her own. Apparently, Sarah thought so highly of Abigail that she named one of her own daughters after Abigail.

Abigail and Francis Welch had at least three children together. They are:

-Margaret (Welch) Wink (1785-1838) FAG ID#166220157 second wife of Adam Wink (1764-1841).
-Frederick "Zadock" Welch (1786-1854) FAG ID#193971375 who married Elizabeth Daniels (1790-1864)
-Mary (Welch) Sams (1787-1856) FAG ID#74056086 wife of Andrew Sams (1780-1859).

Abigail died in 1814 of some unknown illness. She and Francis were married for 30 years. Francis Welch would remarry one more time, to Elizabeth Cook, following Abigail's death. There were no biological children from that union.

Abigail is believed to be the daughter of Joseph Roberts, (1743-1780) FAG ID#110813674, who fought in the Revolutionary War and was killed by the Seneca Indians, allies of the British, in the Phillip's Massacre which occurred on July 16, 1780 in Saxton, Bedford County, PA. Joseph was one of 13 Rangers in the Company of Captain William Phillips that were murdered. A monument now exists on the site of the burial of these soldiers.
