Arthur Clayton (Pete) Wright, 94, formerly of 802 Thompson Street, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney.
Born in Kings Mountain, N.C., he was the husband of Jacqueline Patrick Wright and son of the late DeKossie Moore Wright and Lillie Jane Hoyle Wright.
He retired from Alcoa and was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon, church clerk and Sunday School teacher.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a sister, Annette Wright Cooper, of Kings Mountain, N.C.; a grandson, Christopher Scott Pennington and wife, Robin of Simpsonville, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Clayton Pennington and Noah Pennington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Lynn Wright Pennington, brothers, Raymond Browning Wright, James Calvin Wright, Lester “Jack” Oren Wright and Curtis Wright and sisters, Hazel Wright Smith, Bonnie Beatrice Wright Ford, Dorothy Mae Wright Gann and Madge Wright Earley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Jackson officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: East Gaffney Baptist Church, 2308 Cherokee Avenue, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
The family will be at their respective homes.
