Death of Mr. William Garvie.
Drowning the Cause.
With respect to the death of William Garvie, whose dead body was found on Saturday morning in a culvert on the railway line, near the Ipswich road level crossing, it was stated on Saturday how a stone was found embedded in the man's forehead. No blood was found about, but when the stone was removed blood flowed freely, although the man must have been dead some hours. The post- mortem examination made by Dr. Tilston on Saturday morning shows that death was caused by drowning, which was probably caused by the body, after being stunned by the fall, rolling into a small pool of water. Mr. J. T. Annear, M.L.A., who knew Garvie well in Maryborough, when acquainted with the sad circumstances made arrangements for the removal of the body to Maryborough, where deceased leaves a wife and family. He had been visitng friends on the Ipswich road, and was last seen alive about 9 o'clock on Friday night at the Fiveways, Woolloongabba, when, it is believed, he was on his way home to his friends.
