Roger A. Gherardi , 88, HIBBING — Funeral services for Roger A. Gherardi, 88, of Hibbing, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Clem Gustin, OSC, will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at a later date.

He died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at the University Medical Center-Mesabi. He was born on Feb. 10, 1915 to Oreste and Lodvina (Bottini) Gherardi in Hibbing. He was employed as a Locomotive Engineer for U.S. Steel. He was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community. He was a member of the Senior Men's Club at the Hibbing Muni Golf Course. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beverly of Hibbing; son, Robert (Barbara) Gherardi of Kelly Lake; three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Bjellos of Hibbing, Connie (Greg) Toscano of Duluth, and Cindy (Richard) Walker of Hibbing; brother, Jerry (Marie) Gherardi of Hibbing; two sisters, Ann Gargano and Ferra Shega, both of Hibbing; seven grandchildren: Sam (Julie) Bjellos, Tom (Caroline) Bjellos, Karie (Chris) Sailstad, Nicholas Toscano, Alex Toscano, Rachel Toscano and Jenel Gherardi; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Oliva; and two brothers, Leno and Alphons Gherardi.

Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
