She resided in Babbitt from 1954 to 1994 and then moved back to Hibbing. She was employed as a mail sorter / clerk for the Post Office in Babbitt. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing, the VFW Post 8510 Ladies Auxiliary, the Italian American Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Tourist Center and Memorial Building Senior Centers, bocce ball and golf clubs. She enjoyed cards, golfing and fishing as hobbies.
Ferra is survived by her daughters: Yvonne (John) Meyers, Becky (Steve) Towner, Christine Paurus, Ginger (David) Slaback; brother, Jerry (Marie) Gherardi; sister, Ann Gargano; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oresti and Lodovina (Bottoni) Gherardi, husband, Edward Shega, son John Shega, three brothers, Alfonso, Leno and Roger, and her sister, Mary Oliva.
