Allen P. Smith
1927-2019

Our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and Friend, Allen Parley Smith, passed away June 21, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Allen was born November 12, 1927 to Parley P. and Leona C. Smith. He was the fifth of nine children and the first boy. Allen has been a life long resident of Draper and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was a proud Jordan High School Beetdigger, where he was a State Champion high hurdler and member of the basketball team. He married Jessie Ramona Atkinson on August 2, 1948 and together they raised six children. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 11, 1955. They were married for 46 years until her tragic death in 1993.

Allen married Joyce Shields on September 3, 1993. They were sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on June 8, 2002. Joyce has been a kind and loving partner to Allen for 26 years and taken great care of him throughout that time. Over the past few months Joyce has worked tirelessly to support and care for him in their home, doing an amazing job.

Allen was an active member of his community, participating in the first Draper City Council when Draper incorporated in 1978. Allen has been an avid “Horseman” his entire life, owning over 800 horses in his lifetime. He owned, trained and rode horses thru his seventies.

Allen was a wonderful Father, which he has said was his most important role. He was a fun Dad and Granddad with a great sense of humor. He provided generously for his family both financially and emotionally. Allen valued hard work and honesty and instilled the same values in his children and family.

Allen will be missed greatly by all who love him.
