Anna is the daughter of Seth Griffith (ca 1737-1800) and Mary "Polly" Westcott (1740=1832). She married Jacob Crapsey 8 Nov. 1787 in New York, probably Rensselaer county. There were 10 children - Stillborn, Mary, John Griffith, Azubah, Melinda Myra, Daniel W., Nancy, Moses C., Tryphosa, and Jacob Tompkins. Anna had 7 siblings: Jeremiah m. to Mary Parable Crapsey, Jacob Crapsey's sister; Elizabeth "Betsey m. Olive Trumbull; Samuel m. Nancy Lewis; Abigail m. Zephaniah Gates; Zubia; Patty Martha m. James Livingston; and Phyla m. Silas Sayles.

Most all of Anna’s family settled in the Madison Co. area. Several of them, her father Seth, her uncle Nathaniel, brother Samuel, brothers-in-law, Oliver Trumbull, Silas Sayles, and James Livingston, removed first to old Ft. Schuler (now Utica, Oneida County) by 1792 before moving on to the Smithfield , Madison Co. area. Jeremiah and Mary Parable (Crapsey) Griffith arrived in Fenner in 1800, only to be forced by foreclosure to remove in midwinter 1806 to Chautauqua County, where they successfully settled. Zephaniah and Abigail (Griffith) Gates locate in Sullivan in 1800. In 1805 and 1806, he sells land in Sullivan; they permanently settle in Manlius. Oliver and Elizabeth (Griffith) Trumbull are also found on the 1800 Town of Cazenovia census, having arrived about 1795. It is Oliver’s brother who owns lot 33 with Jacob Crapsey. Elizabeth and Oliver spend their lives here. Silas Sayles is on the 1800 Town of Cazenovia census. After marriage to Phyla, they remain in Peterboro until 1819, when they remove to Clockville. And finally, James Livingston, husband of Patty Martha (Griffith) and brother-in-law of Peter Smith are in Peterboro shortly after Peter and Elizabeth (Livingston) Smith settle there.
