The cemetery is located on the East side of LA 182 on the South side of Opelousas. From I-49, go West on Harry Gilbeau Road, at LA 182 turn left, the cemetery will be about a mile and on your left. As you turn into the center drive of the cemetery, you are facing the flag pole, Uncle Bud's burial site is to your immediate left about halfway between LA 182 and the flag pole.

Robert J. Ducharme

Lafayette - Services for Dr. Robert James "Bud" Ducharme will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Episcopal Church of the Ascension with the Revs. Russell J. Levenson, Jr. and George Gennuso officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Park, Opelousas, under directiokn of Delhomme.

Ducharme, 79, of Lafayette died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in his residence.

He was a graduate of Opelousas High School and was selected Outstanding Football Player of Louisiana. He was a coach and a teacher at Opelousas High School and principal of Park Vista Elementary School and Hamilton Lab School on the USL campus. After earning his Ph. D., he became a member of the USL Education Department, the Chair of Teacher Education and Dean of the College of Education at USL.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was an instructor and tester of pilots. He received many awards including the Kappa Delta Pi as Outstanding Educator in the Nation, Silver Torch Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Louisiana American Heart Association and Outstanding Rotarian of Lafayette.

Survivors include his wife Mary Holly Ducharme of Lafayette; one daughter, Dr. Adele Ducharme; two sisters, Beverly Talbot and Jewel Parsons; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Michael Holly, David Holly, Bill Holly, Dr. Larry Holly, Cooper Hurst, Sid Ducharme, Commander Jack Holly and Ben Holly.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Sunday in the funeral home.
