Miss Josephine "Jo Jo" Brooks, dearly loved Aunt, passed from her earthly life on the morning of March 26, 2008, at Shawnee Mission Hospital. Jo was known for her kindness, gentleness, generosity, and her good and hard working nature. She was a testament to the word "caring." Throughout her life she made a multitude of friends from her days with the CYO girls' softball teams, tennis, bowling and her 38-year career at Commerce Bank.

Josephine Brooks was born June 7, 1926, to Andrew and Helen Ruzbarsky Birosak. She later changed her legal name to "Brooks" for the sake of simplicity. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Marie Zugecic and Ann Dercher, and brother, Johnny Brooks. She was survived by her three nieces, two nephews, and their children, all of whom she loved. She also leaves her two best friends: Dolores, who she worked and vacationed with for many years; and Helen, whom she knew since they were young girls. The memories of the good times she had with them always brought a smile to her face and she loved them dearly.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at All Saints Parish - Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation was held before the Funeral Mass at the church.
