John "Jack" Hoag December 31, 1942-December 6, 2015
Middletown, NY
John “Jack” Hoag, a retired police officer and 30 year area resident, died after a valiant struggle with illness on Sunday, December 6th at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 72 yrs. old. The son of Edwin and Rita Nault Hoag, he was born on New Years' Eve on December 31, 1942 in the Bronx. Jack was a loving husband, father and friend to many who were privileged to know him. A retired NYPD officer , he also worked 20 yrs. for the federal government as a police Sgt. at Castle Point.
Jack served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis and was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Middletown Elks Lodge 1097, St. Paul's Parish Council and a faithful parishioner and usher at his Church. He loved classic movies, dancing, Disney World, cruises with Kathy and friends, and the good things of life.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathleen at home, his children; Craig Hoag ( Jill). Thomas (Giuseppina), Joseph Gardocki (Eileen) Sean Hoag and his partner Edward Ward;daughters, Donna Perez, Christine Newcomb (Richard),his brother, Ray (Jean) ; brothers-in-law, Jerome Williams, sisters-in-law, Alice Williams and Joanne Whittaker ( William) .Grandchildren; Dominique, Shane, Jeffrey, Daniel, Nicholas, Chase, Grant, Taylor,and Gavin as well as his great-grandchildren. He will be missed by their close travelling friends, Thomas Riviello and his wife Patricia.
He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Dale and her husband Joe and one brother-in-law, Matthew Calabretta.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. Paul’s R.C. Church , 2800 Rt. 17K, Bullville, NY, with Rev. Fr. Sean Harlow, O. Carm. Officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in the family plot in St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction,N.Y. on Monday December 14. 2015.
