Franklyn Lewis Sherry of 2719 Haskell Road, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Olean General Hospital.

Frank was born May 4, 1933 in Mayport, Pa, the son of Lewis and Amy Himes Sherry. On March 2, 1957 in Eldred, Pa., he married Patricia Besecker, who survives.

Mr Sherry served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. After his military career, he became an electrician, working for the IBEW Local 106 in Jamestown.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Olean, serving as an usher for many years and previously on the trustee board. He was a member of the Portville Lodge No. 579, the Portville American Legion Post 814 and the National Rifle Association. Mr Sherry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Bambi Lynn (Philip) Farris Jr., of Olean; three grandchildren, Amy, Stacia and Gregory Farris; one sister, Evelyn (Robert) Hawkins of Georgia; three brothers, Roger Sherry of Massachusetts, Daniel (Patricia) Sherry of Utah and Paul Sherry of St. Mary's, Pa; one sister-in-law, Patrician Sherry of Portville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Todd Lewis Sherry in 1995; and one brother, Kenneth Sherry in 2016.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Olen, 133 S. Union St., Olean. Rev. Millard C Cook, interim pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 Ritual Team.
