Lewis D. Sherry, of State Street died Saturday, November 9, 1991, in Bradford Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born March 19, 1913, in Timblin, Jefferson County, he was a son of William M. and Clara Edna Shaffer Sherry.

On December 27, 1932, in Shannondale, he married former Amy B. Himes, who survives.

Mr. Sherry attended Jefferson County Schools and had lived in Knapp Creek, N.Y., and Otto Township before moving to Bradford.

He had been employed for 20 years in oil fields of Healy Petroleum of Bradford and later by South Penn Oil Co. He retired in 1978 from Corning Glass Works of Bradford. Mr. Sherry was a past member of the Shannondale Lutheran Church and Knapp Creek and Otto Township fire departments.

Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Franklin L. Sherry of Cuba, N.Y., Kenneth R. Sherry of Portville, N.Y., Roger A. Sherry of Agawam, Mass., Daniel L. Sherry of Kansas City, Kan., and Paul C. Sherry of Bradford; a daughter Mrs. Robert (Evelyn Hawkins of Conyers, Ga.;
15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren;

a brother William Sherry of Zelienople; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Pearl) Womeldorf of Reidsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by a brother Clifton Sherry and a sister Lula Smith.

Funeral and committal services were held today (Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1991) at 11 a.m. in the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. The Rev. Alex Dubee, pastor of the Eldred Seventh Day Adventist Church, officiated.

Burial was in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
