The Spruce Church of God was erected on land that Benjamin's father-law, Elijah Martin, donated. A cemetery was added later. The cemetery became known as the Martin Family Graveyard.

His surname was spelled various ways in the records, Conkright in 1840, Konkwright in 1850, Conkwright in 1860, Cankrite in 1870, and finally Conkright at his decease.
