Thelma Lee Hampton, age 84, of Cartersville, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2020 in Cartersville, Georgia.

Thelma was born on August 11, 1935 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Wesley Kenley and Mary Lula Simmons Byrd. She served her family as a homemaker and was a loving mother. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, crafting, playing video games, and staying up late. Thelma was a Christian and was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Closkie Hampton; her son, Sid Hampton; her brothers, Arch Byrd, Otis Byrd, Bill Byrd, and Homer Byrd; and her sisters, Goldie Addison, Lilly Proffitt, Stella VanDyke, and an infant sister, Beulah Byrd.

Those left to cherish her memory include

Son, Wayne Hampton and wife, Michelle of Cartersville, Georgia

Christopher Hampton, Juneiva Spor, Angel Bucklen, Leanna Bevins, Trey Wheeling, Tyler Wheeling, Dana Hampton, Sid Hampton, Rodney Easter, DJ Easter, Tony Barnett, and Kassie Helbert.

Twenty nine great grandchildren and a host of additional family and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Thelma Lee Hampton will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverend Bruce Mitchell and Shawn Proffitt officiating. Interment will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 PM on Friday evening, February 7, 2020 at the funeral home.
