Ethel M. Harris, 92, former Parsons resident, died May 24, 2007, at a nursing home in Dixon, IL. She had moved to Sterling, IL, in 1975 and later to Dixon, IL. She was born Aug. 8, 1914, in the Valley area northwest of Parsons, to Daniel W. and Isabelle (Buddenhagen) Harris. She graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Parsons Junior College and Kansas State College of Pittsburg. In her early adult years she was taught in rural schools in Neosho County. For several years she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. as a civil service clerk. She then was employed as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Clyde McKinney. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sterling. Surviving are two nephews, Richard Hanna, Maryville, MO, and LaVern Smith, Ozark, MO; three nieces, Marilyn Kelly, West Chicago, IL, Carol Dodds, Wichita, Leora Ackerman Hastings, NE. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Oscar Harris, Albert Harris and Clarence Harris; and four sisters, Edda Smith, Agnes Hall, Evelyn Hanna and Isabelle Morrissey.
