John Allen was the son of James Allen (1785-1837) and Delilah Wright, daughter of Richard Wright, Jr., & Nancy Morgan (1782-1869) of Davidson Co.,NC
The following info kindly provided by contributor Greg LeBaron, "Past and Present of Nodaway County, Missouri", pgs 403-404, it shows his birth to be 10 Sep 1811 in Washington Co., Indiana, and his death as 10 Jan 1892 in McDonald Co, Missouri. Note that the dates, Jun 1812 until 10 Mar 1892 is only 79 years and 9 months which is inconsistent with the statement that he was 80 years and 6 months at his death. On the other hand, from 10 Sep 1811 until 10 Jan 1892 in only 80 years and 4 months. I am thinking that the birth date of 10 Sep 1811 is correct and the death date of 10 Mar 1892 is correct.

"The HIstory of Nodaway County..." also puts his birth at 10 Sep 1811. ''The History of Nodaway County, Missouri, Containing a History of the County, Its Cities, Towns, Etc.'' (St. Joseph, Missouri: National Historical Company, 1882), 719–720; digital images, ''archive.org'' He married Sarah "Sallie" Cole on 22 Nov 1832 in Monroe, Indiana, USA. She is believed to have died before he married Nancy Graves.
