Mr. Ballweg was born in Baden, Germany, and at the age of 12 years came with his parents to this country. They settling in York, Pa., where he was united in marriage with Miss Barbara Ball [sic] of that city.
Following their marriage, they removed to Abilene, Kans., decedent for twenty-five years having been a prominent resident of that place.
About one and one-half years ago, Mr. Ballweg came to Springfield and had since lived at the St. Joseph's Old Folks' home.
Surviving are seven children, five daughters and two sons. They are: Mrs. Mary Rappecker [sic], of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Edward McCollum [sic] and Mrs. Walter Dodge, of Abilene, Kan.; the Misses Sarah and Anna Ballweg, of Springfield; and Fred C. and Henry Ballweg, both residing in Springfield. [note: Joseph Ballweg is not listed.]
The remains were removed from the undertaking establishment of Kirlin & Egan, 411 East Adams street, to the residence of his son, Fred C. Ballweg, jr., 641 North Fifth street, where the funeral was held and at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
