Mrs. Adams was born July 28, 1923 in Varnville, a daughter of the late Elliott and Etta Cook Mixson. She had been a supervisor with Best Manufacturing Company in Ridgeland and was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters: Juanita Gooding and husband Billy and Dr. Shirley Dempsey, Chaplain; sons: Wendy Adams and wife Janice and Bubba Adams and special friend Nancy Walters; sister: Carolyn Hughes; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great, great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law: Janet Gatlin Dempsey. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her husbands: Melvin Dempsey and Fred Adams; daughter: Patricia Nettles; son: Melvin Laverne Dempsey; 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and son-in-law: Bobby Nettles.
Graveside services will be 10 AM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Sand Hill Cemetery conducted by Rev. George Skinner and Dr. Shirley Dempsey, Chaplain. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service.
Memorials may be sent to the Sand Hill Cemetery, 111 Mary Street, Hampton, SC 29924. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Juanita Gooding in Hampton. Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service.
