Probably the 1st of 5 children (John, Ida, Sven Peter, Emma Christina, and Anton Bernhardt) of Carl Andersson and Anna Johanna Eliasson. As was typical at that time, he and his siblings took the last name "Carlsson" (Carlson in the US) from their father's 1st name. John was born in Snostorp, Sweden about 1858 and lived his entire life there. His father died in 1857 and John most likely took over the family farm and the care of his widowed mother. John remained in Snostorp with his mother and sisters Ida and Emma when his brothers Sven Peter and Anton Berngardt
immigrated to the US in March of 1888. His sister Emma later immigrated to the US in March of 1898. No information yet about his wife and children or when he died. Buried near his parents in the Smostorp Lutheran Church cemetery.
