Melvin Prater, 82, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014 in Rangely, Colo.

Survivors include his children, Milton Prater and wife, Karen of Montrose, Colo.; Lonnie Prater and wife, Lorie of Los Angeles; Verna Prater of Montrose; grandchildren, Milt (Sharon), Brian (Marcia), Joshua (Angie), Michael (Renee), Brandon, Damon (Chandra), Sandor (Catherine) and Ben (Ami) along with 10 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Lila Faye Highful and husband Johnny of Broken Bow, Okla.; Terry Prater and wife Sara of Broken Bow, and Patsy Vancil of Idabelle, Okla.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors.
