Velma Jean Dipboye, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home at Washington Regional Medical Center after being diagnosed with Coronavirus.
She was born May 4, 1931 in Creston, Iowa, the 11th of 13 children born to Walter Robert Calvin and Cora Elizabeth (McNeil) Calvin.

She was married to Forrest John Dipboye in Van Buren in Crawford County on October 13, 1948. The couple bore two children, Debra Gail Dipboye and Forrest Randall Dipboye.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter, and son; five sisters, Chloe Hazel Filer, Edna Irene McKay, Dorotha Aileen Warner, Nadine Walker, and Norma Geraldine Calvin; five brothers, Maynard Lee Calvin, Ralph Wallace Calvin, Armand Aaron Calvin, Walter Robert Calvin, Jr., and Teddy Gene Calvin; and a granddaughter, Brandi Nicole Dipboye.

She is survived by a sister, Velda Darbyshire of Sedalia, Missouri; and a brother, Jerry Gene Calvin of St. Augustine, Florida. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tiffany Zgragen and husband Chad of Paicines, California, Candace Rich of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Stephanie Runyan of Rogers.

Jean had many friends in the Springdale area; and she was known for her elegant entertaining and her beautiful decorating skills, particularly at Christmas time; and for her Super Bowl parties when her nephew, Kurt Warner was quarterback for the St. Louis Rams.
Her professional career spanned nearly four decades in banking; she was Vice President of the First National Bank (later First Security Bank) in Springdale, retiring in June of 1997. She also served as a sponsor and ex officio board member of the Shiloh Museum in Springdale.

Jean was very grateful for the friendship, love and support she received during her illness from friends and aides, Diane Collins and Terri Winfield-Story.

According to her wishes, Jean has been cremated and will be buried with her husband, near her son, daughter and granddaughter, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
