"The Hawk Eye" [Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA], 28 Jun 1994: "Armand A. Calvin, 72, of Morning Sun, died Monday, June 27, 1994, at his home. Born March 6, 1922, at Chadwick, Mo., he was the son of Walter and Cora McNeal [sic] Calvin. He married Lola Konkler on May 12, 1946, at Creston. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired farmer, and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include his wife; eight sons, Mike, Manny, Robin, Mark, and Destiny, all of Morning Sun, David of Winfield, Rick of Wapello and Jeff of Virginia; three daughters, Vicky Kephart of Colfax, Becky Calvin of Floris, and Margo Kracaw of Morning Sun; three brothers, Ted of Burlington, Jerry of Peterborough, N.H., and Ralph of Mesa, Ariz; three sisters, Nadine Walker of Danville, Velda Darbyshire of Warsaw, Mo., and Velma Dipboye of Springdale, Ariz.; 27 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Mr. Calvin will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, with the Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating. the body will be cremated with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite. A memorial has been established.
