Services for Doris Mae True, 53, Lawrence, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Revs. James Logan and Bill Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mrs. True died Tuesday of natural causes at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe.

Born May 5, 1937, in Scottsbluff, Neb., Mrs. True grew up in the Scottsbluff area and then attended grade school and junior high in Casper, Wyo. She graduated from high school in 1956 in California.

Mrs. True later attended the School of Cosmotology in Mission and after graduation was a hairdresser in Mission from 1957 to 1961.

She then lived in several cities throughout the Midwest and moved to Ottawa in 1978 from Lincoln, Neb., where she had lived for several years. She later moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., then Springfield, Mo., before moving to Lawrence in 1988.

Mrs. True worked in child care for nearly 20 years. She worked for Franklin County Day Care for four years and ran a day care center in her home for three years. Most recently, she worked as a home care worker, caring for the elderly in their homes for the past three years.

Mrs. True was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Lawrence, and a former member of Bible Baptist Church, Ottawa. She also taught Sunday School classes for a number of years.

Survivors include two sons, Russell W. of the U.S. Army, Fort Campbell, Ky., and Gerald Ray, Manhattan; a daughter, Sharla G. True, Ottawa; three brothers, Wayne Mauck, Dumas, Tex., Vernon Mauck, Front Royal, Va., and Kenneth Wimer, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Nadine Gremminger, Ottawa, and Dorlene Wilcox, Casper, Wyo.; and two grandchildren.
