William Dalton (Dick) Richardson,58, a longtime county resident, died Monday afternoon around three o'clock at his home following a long illness.
His funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, Dec 15, at the Worley Funeral Home Chapel with John W. Baker of Ryan and Robert Smee, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial, under the direction of Worley Funeral Home, was in Waurika Cemetery. Bearers were Johnny Thomas, Walter Porter, Lawerence Lewis, Don Goin, Otis Betty and Hubert Fitzgerald. Honorary bearers were Milo Scott, Leonard Wooten,
W.O. Ingram, James Waid, D.R. Curington, Andy Mock and Dan Hall.
Mr. Richardson was born Aug 18, 1913 in Paradise, Texas where his parents operated a farm. He came to Oklahoma and on Nov. 17, 1931, he was married to Irene Taylor in Waurika. The couple moved back to Paradise where they farmed until 1933 when they moved to Oklahoma, settling on a farm west of Waurika.
Mr. Richardson operated his farm until failing health forced him to, leave the farm and the family moved to town. Mr. Richardson began working at the Waurika Firestone store as clerk and he continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1955.
Dick, as he was called by his many friends, was an avid fisherman and he spent many hours during his retirement years fishing with his friends in the ponds of this area.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of Odd Fellows Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Billie Woods of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Shirley Cephus of Fort Worth and Mrs. Jennie Gower of Temple; three sons, Jimmieee of Lubbock, Harold of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Dewey of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Davidson of Brownsville, Texas and Mrs Sue Ballinger of Burbank, Calif.; three brothers, Pete, George and L.D., all of Bridgeport, Texas; and 15 grand children.
