Mary Ulven, 88, Soldier, Iowa died Wednesday, April 8, 1992 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

She was born April 25, 1903, at Soldier, Iowa to Ole T. and Mattie (Field) Hanson. She taught in the Soldier area until her marriage on August 12, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa to Harold Ulven. The couple farmed near Soldier. Mr. Ulven died April 3, 1978 in Onawa.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and had been active in Ladies Aid for many years.

Survivors include; one daughter, Shirley Aronson of Fort Collins, Co; and two sons, Orvan of Soldier and Marvin of Paullina; one sister, Emma Graetz of Soldier; one brother, Oscar Hanson of Rodney; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Guy, Clarence and Henry; one sister; one daughter, Lois A Whitney, and one infant brother, Henry Clarence.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 1992 at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas R Hagen officiating, Mrs. Ivan Gibbs, organist, played "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross"

Private family interment was held at the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier, Iowa.
